Making Favorites Your Default Explorer Quick Launch Path

My Favorites are My Favorites for a reason.

I access them all the time and when Windows 7 defaults to Libraries from the Quick Launch shortcut, it takes an extra step to get to My Favorites.  Sometimes I even have to scroll up to get to the Favorite.  I want my Quick Launch shortcut to open My Favorites.  If you are looking for that too, here are some easy steps:

  1. Close any Explorer windows you have open.
  2. Hold Shift while right-clicking the Quick Launch shortcut.  Click Properties at the bottom of the menu.
  3. Select the Shortcut Tab if it is not already.Capture4
  4. Change the Target to %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{323CA680-C24D-4099-B94D-446DD2D7249E}Capture5
  5. Click Okay.                                         Capture6

That’s it!  Your Explorer Quick Launch shortcut will now start in My Favorites, giving you quick access to what you’ve selected as your Favorites!
